What started as a challenge – how to use surplus wool from our own Devon Closewool flock – became a mission to create timeless textiles. Combining traditional techniques with contemporary design to produce beautiful pieces with a truly unique story.
PRESERVING TRADITION CELEBRATING CRAFT
Our wool travels from our Salcombe farm to Yorkshire’s historical mills, where traditional worsted spinning creates exceptionally strong, pill-resistant yarn. Master weavers then transform this yarn into distinctive herringbone patterns on heritage looms, combining traditional techniques with our contemporary design to produce pieces made to be used, loved, and handed down.

Our story started in 2014 with just six sheep in a Salcombe orchard. What was a modest agricultural experiment by two passionate people became a thriving farm supplying our very own butchery and farm shop alongside other local growers, producers and friends. Salcombe Wool Company is the next step in our journey, turning beautiful locally-grown wool into products unique to the area.
